Roofs fail at the worst possible time — during a storm, overnight, on a bank holiday. If water is coming into your property or tiles have come off and something is unsafe over a pavement or a driveway, call us on 01623 454545 and we will get out to you. The first visit is about stopping the damage and making the property safe; the permanent repair follows in daylight and dry conditions when it can be done properly.
What counts as an emergency
Water actively running into a room, a ceiling that is bulging or has come down, tiles or slates that have blown off and left the underlay exposed, a chimney stack or ridge that has shifted, lead flashing peeled back by wind, or anything loose at height above a pavement, a car or a neighbour's property. If you are not sure whether it can wait until morning, ring and describe it — we would rather talk you through it on the phone for free than have you sitting under a leak all night wondering.
Making it safe first
The immediate job is to stop water entering and remove any danger to people below. Depending on the weather and what has happened, that usually means sheeting the affected area, removing or securing anything loose at height, clearing blocked outlets that are backing water up under the covering, and temporarily sealing the point of entry. We take photographs of what we find and what we do, which matters when you come to make an insurance claim.
Storm damage and insurance
Most buildings insurance policies cover storm damage to a roof, and the two things that get claims paid are evidence and a clear description of the cause. We photograph the damage before and after making it safe, and provide a written report setting out what failed, why, and what the permanent repair involves, priced item by item. Do not wait for the insurer before making the property safe — every policy expects you to prevent further damage, and the cost of doing so is part of the claim.

What it costs, roughly
We quote a fixed price in writing after looking at the job, because roofs vary far more than price lists admit. That said, people reasonably want a ballpark before they pick up the phone, so our roofing price guide sets out real indicative figures for every service we offer, including this one. No registration, no "prices from" that nobody has ever actually paid.
